Let me introduce myself, I am first a very blessed woman and want to give all credit for all good in my life to our amazing and loving God. He comes first and all Glory to Him! I am also a wife, mom, grandma (MiMi) and daughter. We have one very big family and everyone has to put up with me and my animal obsessions.
My obsession began with my first toy poodle as a child and I fell in love fast. My poodle hung out in the dug out at my high school softball games, was first car sick when I received my drivers license at 16 years old, and was my pillow to cry on when I was a teenager. I have owned many breeds of dogs throughout my life but I always come back to my beloved poodles as my favorite. I started raising poodles back in the late 90's. My children were young and enjoyed every minute of their jobs which was puppy socialization. Every one of their friends loved to hang out at our home because they knew they could play with puppies! In over two decades, no one has ever purchased a timid puppy from us!
As my children all matured, I took a break from breeding and traveled with my hubby and his career in preaching for a little while. I missed my poodles immensely. We decided to buckle down and stay put for a while and I started to search for those perfect poodle lines and gorgeous babies that could be part of our family again. Our dogs live in our home and we do not own a kennel. Some nights, hubby has to fight for his pillow when he comes to bed. Now, we have grandkids and they each have their favorites! It is nothing to find a bed full of poodles in any bedroom.
All of our poodles are AKC registered with one exception. We had not had intensions of breeding her and when we moved one time, I lost her papers. Her breeder had retired and moved so I just gave up trying to replace them. We offer CKC papers on her pups but she will likely only have one or two more litters before she is spayed and lives out her life as my pet. The rest of our dogs are all full AKC and so are their puppies. We set our prices at what we think is reasonable and according to what I need to bring in to support my breeding program. We do not have a lot of puppies each year but we do have a lot of vet and feed bills. I do not cut corners when it comes to the health of my poodles. They see our vet for everything and let's face it, medical expenses have tripled in the last few years. I feed our dogs a raw homemade diet that is not cheap. These expenses are what set our prices for our puppies. Unless there is a health reason why I should not give out full AKC to a new owner, you can expect to receive full AKC from Embark DNA health tested AKC parent poodles. We try to get to know our customers so we know that our puppies end up in the best of hands. Most of our pups go to pet homes only but we are not opposed to selling to breeders with the same ethical beliefs as us.
We also own some gorgeous Maine Coon cats that we imported from Russia and Norway. We breed European lines of Maine Coon cats as well. My youngest daughter also raises and shows English Angora rabbits along with the grandkids. We have been heavily involved with 4H and I helped with the Cloverbuds. We have a youtube channel that we use for all of our puppy, kitten, and bunny business as well as family fun. The channel is called God Given Country Liven.
We have a mini farm and raise chickens and meat rabbits. A lot of this is raised to make our homemade raw diet we feed our cats and dogs. We (my parents) also keep a pretty large garden in the summer and are adding greenhouses for year around veggie growing as well as multiple new fruit trees. It is a busy place here and we love it! Our family is quite large but only 10 of us are local. We still have other children and grandchildren that live far away as well. You will see lots of pictures of my parents, kids, and grandkids throughout the website (and FB page) as well as my hubby who I certainly would not be able to do any of this without!
November 2024: If you are not aware, we have relocated to Chapel Hill, NC. We no longer live in Illinois.
