Pointed White Group

​Pointed group; Pointed white designated on the C allele by ch is dominate to ruby eyed white but
recessive to full color, chinchilla, and sable. Pointed white is a white rabbit with only the extreme
points left to show the color, eyes are ruby like a ruby eyed white. Ideally pointed white is a self base
with full extension. Self base with full extension gives the best point color for a pointed white.
Pointed white is also a temperature sensitive color, its common for pointed whites to fade in the
summer and show strong point color in the winter. Pointed whites if sheared down when cold can
take on a frosted appearance which will molt out and they will return to bright white body. Pointed
white kits also can “chill” and have a frosted appearance, which will again molt out to reveal the
bright white body with dark points.

Steel Pointed white- White body wool with darker extreme points. Since steel does not have white
agouti or light otter lacing the steel pointed white are difficult to tell apart from the self pointed white.
Genotype is ----ch---Es- . Steel pointed white can be black (B-, D-), Blue _B-, dd), chocolate (bb, D-), and
lilac (bb,dd), it can also be Agouti (A-), otter (at-) , or self (aa).

Agouti Pointed white - (also called martinized despite martin gene not being responsible) White body
wool with darker extreme points with white lacing visible in the ears, under the nose, and under the tail.
Genotype is A---ch---E- .You can have agouti pointed white in black (B-, D-), Blue _B-, dd), chocolate (bb,
D-), and lilac (bb,dd), Agouti pointed white can also be harlequin pointed which would be blotchy or
missing points due to the nature of harlequin coloring (ej-), could also be non extension agouti pointed
which may have lighter point color (ee).

Otter/martin pointed white - (called Martinized pointed white, difficult to tell apart from agouti pointed
white which also gets called Martinized pointed white). White body wool with darker extreme points.
Genotype is at---ch----- Otter/martin pointed white can be black (B-, D-), Blue _B-, dd), chocolate (bb, D-
), and lilac (bb,dd), could also be Steel which wouldn’t show the martinized markings (Es), full extension
(E-), harlequin which would have blotchy and possibly missing markings due to harlequin marking nature
(ej-), or non extension which may have lesser point color (ee).

Self pointed- normal pointed white is self which is hard to tell apart from steel pointed white. The wool
is white and the extreme points are colored. You can have self pointed white in black (B-, D-), Blue _B-,
dd), chocolate (bb, D-), and lilac (bb,dd), self pointed white can also be harlequin pointed which would
be blotchy or missing points due to the nature of harlequin coloring (ej-), could also be non extension
self pointed which may have lighter point color (ee).

Ruby Eyed White (REW)

Ruby Eyed White (REW) Ruby eyed whites are the most recessive in the C allele and are a white rabbit
with ruby/pink eyes. They are born pink/white and as they mature they remain a beautiful snow
white. Another name for this color is Albino. Ruby eyed whites can hide steel, agouti, otter, self, full extension, harlequin, non extension, broken pattern, VM markings, silvering (can not hide chinchilla, Sable, or pointed white). Think of
REWS as a colored rabbit with a white sheet thrown over them.
